Americans waste a lot, which means they also buy a lot. The U.S. is the biggest supermarket in the world - born capitalists, 75% of whom either cannot or do not save. If this 75% decided to start recycling, ditching their cars for bicycles, growing their own veggies, instead of raiding Safeway, or just cooking instead of supporting restaurants and perhaps held on to their clothes for a few years instead of keeping up with fashion, would all the countries that export their goods to the US. suffer greatly or would it have so no affect at all on the world economy?

Humans are designed to eat animals. By depriving yourself of meat you are missing out on essential vitamins and minerals. Animal cruelty is horrible and you should not support companies that mistreat animals later used for food. Fast food restaurants often mistreat their animals. Instead, buy free ranged chicken and like foods FRESH from a supermarket. These animals were not mistreated and you can still eat them! It’s the cycle of life. Animals lower on the food chain are SUPPOSED to be killed and eaten by higher animals like humans!
Great answer mike, now go hug a tree
@ Jac:
c’mon they show this in the lion king. Predators are at the top of the food chain. They keep other populations in check. Remove a predator at the top and the next one lower on the food chain explodes in population. This can wipe out other species. And eventually, the nutrients in predators return to the earth when they die. These nutrient go into plants and so on. The circle of life. Watch the Lion King
@Alarick:
Yes we are designed to eat animals. Are front teeth are made to break up meat. Our digestive tract is designed to precess meat. The gull bladder produces bile to break up fat. Get your facts straight
EDIT: sorry veggies for the rant. I respect your views and just wanted you to hear me out.

I’m 5”10 and I currently weigh in at 124.5 lbs. At my heaviest last year I weighed 160 lbs. Since then I’ve completely cut out everything unhealthy and was on a macrobiotic diet for the first 2 months of my initial weight loss. Now I’m eating lean protein such as chicken breast, and low fat dairy in the form of greek yogurt and cottage cheese. I also eat whole grains, veggies, and lots of fruit. Other than that, no junk or sugar. My family loves going out to eat, but I can never find healthy choices, so I won’t really eat out at restaurants with them. I keep a food journal to tally in my daily calories (which was my mom’s idea in the first place) and now my family thinks I’m obsessed. My family always makes jokes about me being too thin and my mom threatens to take me to the doctor and get food shoved down my throat by tube if I don’t gain weight. I eat 5 or 6 small meals a day and have never attempted to throw any food up on purpose. Why do they think I have an eating disorder? How can I get them to see that I just want to be healthy?

Not including Subway, I mean the McDonalds, BK, Taco Bell, KFC and Jack and the Box. The main thing I like best about Wendy’s is the lettuce on their burgers is ALWAYS FRESH. And it’s great, in salads too I notice with other veggies. Go to BK or McD’s and the lettuce is soggy, covered in mayo and brown, SICK! I don’t eat fast food much but when I do Wendy’s is always my choice if I want a burger. (even if they are square lol) What you think?
Never heard of Five Guys, any in Seattle? I’ll have to check it out.

I’ve completely revamped my lifestyle and it’s crazy because just after 2-3 weeks, my palat seems to have completely changed…so I’m wondering how it all works and how long it usually takes.
Ex. I was the biggest sugarholic, loved junk food, etc, but i only ate these things on weekends or social events. Now I’ve cut out all added fat, sugar, salt, cholesterol, etc from my diet….and whenI had made some lentils with raisins in it, the raisins are way too sweet….I had a piece of chocolate today and I just about wanted to barf–I brushed my teeth and I’m absolutely disgusted with the taste in my mouth….I ordered a salad today at a restaurant and they put some fried crisps on it and I mistakingly got one in my mouth and I was very disgusted with that bite…it seems like my palat is far more senstaive to flavor. My veggies are bursting with flavor…that nasty cardboard whole wheat pasta now is bursting with complexity and is such a treat to even have plain!! It’s amazing!
So….is this typical? how long does it usually take to change your palat?

So i’m a server at this busy restaurant and i see lots of different parents out there with different parenting styles.
I have been serving for quiet awhile. And before i had my now 14 month old daughter i told myself i wouldn’t do certain that i have seen at my job. For example some parents only order fry food for their little ones no veggies. Or others let their kids trash the whole table. Some let their little ones run around on a busy Saturday night and they end up falling. I am no one to judge other parents but this are some things i have always told myself that i would try to prevent while i’m out.
Its funny though now that i am a parent and my daughter is getting bigger and started to put tantrums i understand them now.
There are some things though that i still wouldn’t do though!

anyways i make em this way
honeywheat
deli cheese
some deli roastbeef that actually taste like roastbeef(found the oscar myar to taste really good)
it’s missing just some kind of sauce or condiment, not sure what to add
and no i hate lettuces and tomato or veggies on something thats suppose to be mostly meat/bread hehe. always order my stuff plain at the restaurants although mustard is slightly growing on me for hotdogs

feel like crying, but can’t.
I can’t eat the food I love anymore. Restaurant dining out the window, gotta cut out processed food and fast food too.
I have to eat whole grains and food from the earth - veggies, fruits etc, all the healthy stuff, and I have to cut out the soda and junk.
Or I’ll get sick. I’m borderline diabetic with high blood pressure and my doctor suggests this or I get put on meds.
How can I be happy about this? I used to be a major foodie, how can I possibly enjoy food now?

My husband has recently started working out 5 days a week and eating healthy. He lost 15 lbs in 2 months.
I am 5′1 and weigh 120lbs.
I have been the same size since we have been together for 6 years.
I admit I do eat unhealthy… lots of sweets… not so much veggies and meat. and I never work out. so obviously if I don’t work out I am going to get a little flabby.
so…
We went to my favorite restaurant because I wanted dessert to celebrate passing this exam. So we are at the restaurant and I say I felt really uncomfortable at the beach the other day because I was all bloated and fat. He interrupts me and says yeah, you should start working out the back of your legs and butt. I say why what is wrong with my legs???? (by the way I was going to say I felt bloated at the beach because I was on my period, and I didn’t want to go to the beach anymore when its that time of the month) so he says… well your starting to get cellulite on the back of your legs and butt. I just staired at him for a minute because I didn’t know what to say… finally I say that’s really mean… really really really mean. he says well I thought you would want to know because you don’t usually look back there. I almost started crying in the restaurant and I don’t think he even noticed.
I understand him trying to tell me that something was going on back there… but I wish he would have done it in a nicer way.
I tryed talking to him about it later and he just blew it off like no big deal.
how should I deal with this?
okay.. I told him he hurt my feelings.. he says I don’t know how to say it in a nicer way. basically he didn’t care that it hurt me..
and I know that he meant it in a constructive way not critical way… but he could have said it in a better manner.
and it wouldn’t hurt me to work out, but I am comfortable with my body the way it is…. I am not comfortable with the only comment about my body from my husband is a negitive one.
