Open Question: The science behind food craving?

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

So I have started this organic diet for a year. I also don’t often eat meat or fish. It is odd that I can easily stop cravings for meat, and fast food. I eat a lot of low fat yogart and egg white. I also don’t use oil that much. I try to eat vegetables raw. And if I cook them I cook things in water. I eat really healthy and flavour light.
However, I find it strange that while I no longer have cravings for McDonald, any restaurant food or other junk food….I always…every once in a while…feel like I MUST of Ramen noodles…the very spicey Korean packaged ones.
High salt and fat. I would try to eat alvocado..or cook a salty vegetable dish with a lot of oil..and stir fry it with brown rice. But I would still feel like I must have Ramen noodle.
But it feels aweful afterward…. so I just don’t understand where I get this craving from?
It is just odd to me because I have gotten rid of cravings for other type of food and not Ramen. It is not like I grew up eating it.
Is there some sort of trace element that is found abundant in pakcaged Ramen noodle that I am not aware of?

Open Question: Why fried potatoes , hamburgers and hotdogs are considered junk food?

Saturday, November 12th, 2011

I mean , hamburgers and hotdogs arent considered as “meat” ? or , fries as vegetables ? I don’t believe that they have no NUTRITIOUS VALUE at all .

I know that re-using oil isn’t healthy (like they do it on restaurants) but - if youre drying those home , using a natural oil . is it still “junk food” ?

Open Question: training regularly, would I improve faster if I didnt drink softdrinks?

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

I had a crazy idea to go to a muay thai camp in thailand, ive been here 3 weeks already. we train 8 - 10 and again 16:00-18:00 about 4 hours a day . 1 hour of running a day, 200 situps 100 pushups hour of hitting a heavy bag, punching kicking it. skipping 10 minutes a time and a lot of pad work very tiring.

another big thing about being here versus my canadian home, the food. I eat vegetables everday and eat very healthy and 4-5 meals a day lol may as well order 2 meals at a restaurant they usually cost 50 baht which isnt even 2 dollars for a very good plate of food.

i sleep 8 hours a day and usually take another nap mid day ( everyone does it is very hot and to have mroe energy for evening training)

Ive noticed crazy things happening to my body, wayyy stronger and nice abdominal muscles now.

MY QUESTION IS the only non healthy thing I do is drink soft drink only one can a day. the sugar from it tastes soo much better after doing exercise lol and it feels to energize me more. Is this softdrink daily having any negative effects. I also drink a very lot of water each day.

Open Question: In ny, at what age can you legally use a knife in a restaurant kitchen?

Monday, September 26th, 2011

I work at a baseball camp serving food out of a steam table. Sometimes when food runs out I need to cut up vegetables. one day my boss caught me cutting a cucumber and she stopped me and told me I need to be seventeen to use a knife in the kitchen. I’m fifteen and turn sixteen in two days. I was wondering if when I turn 16, can I use a knife legally? Any help will be appreciated, and if you have a “yes” answer please show proof that I can show my boss. THANKS

Open Question: My mom is really getting on my nerves about this?

Monday, September 19th, 2011

I’m asking this hear because I want to hear from other teens about what they think I should do.

I’m 15 and I’ve been a vegetarian for a little over 2 years now. My mom is still in denial though. At first she acted like everything was okay, but she’s told me that she was nice about it because she thought it was a phase. Obviously it wasn’t, and now 2 years later she’s trying to guide me back to eating meat.
At restaurants I’ll ask the waiter if ____ has meat in it, ect. One time the waiter said “No but it has lard if you’re vegetarian”. I was just about to change my order since I don’t eat lard, and my mom comes in and says “Well she’s not a real vegetarian she just doesn’t like the taste of meat”. It really made me angry.
My aunt just moved back in with us and we’re trying to go on a diet. She told me we could eat salmon and vegetables, and I told her how I would just eat the vegetables then. She acted all confused, and said “What? You’re not eating fish?”. When I went vegetarian I gave up ALL meat, including fish, she knows that. When my aunt came back she told my aunt (who lived with us when I went vegetarian 2 years ago) “well she doesn’t want to eat fish anymore” - like I’ve been eating fish this whole time.
Sorry I know this is kind of long and I tend to ramble on and on, but there are SO many examples I could use to show how immature she is being in this situation. How do I handle this? I’m never eating meat for the rest of my life, and actually plan to raise my children vegetarian (depending on my future husband). How do I get this through her head NOW that this is who I am?

Open Question: How will a 12 egg omlet and a pound of hashbrowns affect my diet?

Friday, August 26th, 2011

I have been working out and dieting for the last 5 months and i have lost 20 lbs and have put on a lot of muscle. i run atleast 2 miles a day 5 days a week and weightlift 5 days a week. only on a few days have i cheated on my diet so im pretty well disciplined. but tomorow i am going to a restaurant to take on a food challenge at a restaurant called The Broken Yolk. It is a 12 egg omlet loaded with vegetables and topped with tons of chilli along with over a pound of hashbrowns and 2 large biscuts and if i eat it within an hour its free and i get a free t-shirt and my name on the wall… but its more for personal pride. so how would this massive calorie meal affect my body and my current diet? am i active enough to burn it off quick and what would be the quickest way to burn these instant calories off? cuz its like a 4000 calorie meal and i try to get under 2500 a day. im a pretty big guy at 185 but im a little concerned how my body will react, but im pretty confident i can do it because im a fat kid at heart.

Open Question: If you were working behind the kitchen at a restaurant, and a customer is rude and disrespectful to you?

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

How would you react as you back to the kitchen to prepare his plate! (You’re preparing his rib-eye steak, mashed potatoes, and vegetables, with bread)
That’s why I’m never rude to the waiters at my table. Regardless if i wasn’t served properly, there’s always a nice way to ask for assistance.
