I’m 15 and I’ve been working as a dishwasher at a restaurant for about 7 months now and I hate it. I don’t really like the people there and I’ve stuck it out long enough and I want to quit. My mom didn’t want me to at first but I talked to her about it and she said it was my choice. I also have another job for just the summer as an ice cream scooper and another place where I help this lady around her house. That one is also a summer “job” but not a real one. Since these are summer jobs and the dishwashing one is not I’m wondering if I should actually quit? I actually do really hate it but I’m not sure if I should actually quit. How will I tell my manager I want to quit and what if he asks me why I want to? Should I just straight up tell him it’s because I hate working there? Help please ?! I’m kinda shy that’s why I’m not too comfortable with the whole “I quit” conversation with my manager.

tomorrow I’m looking for jobs for the first time. so i was wondering what’s the proper thing to say to an employee/employer when you’re looking for a job application? oh and btw i’m a senior in high school and its only a summer job. i’m going to be looking at mall-stores like clothing stores and fast food-ish resaurants and maybe some sit-down restaurants. also i was wondering would it be okay if i went on vacation (for like a week only and another 2-day trip)? and also if you have any reccomendations on where to apply tht would be great too

also, am I old enough to get an actual job, like cleaning/washing dishes in a restaurant? or bagging groceries? I live in Georgia and I don’t know what the child labor laws are like.

I’m 14 and I need a job. I went to my counselor to get a worker’s permit, and he said I first need to find someone to employ me. He said to check at Dion’s and Dairy Queen (or any other fast food restaurant). Any suggestions?

I just started working a summer job as a restaurant hostess, which I applied for and am perfectly comfortable with it. I enjoy the constant interaction with guests, actually. Just one week out of hostess training and the managers have placed me in a food runner/busser position without even asking me- which I am NOT comfortable doing (the food runner part is what gets me). I gave it an honest shot and went through a night of training but I don’t think I can handle it. There’s a lot of stress in the back kitchen and by the end of the night I felt like I was going to throw up. For all the things I’m expected to do, I walk away with very little money (I do 80% of the servers’ jobs but walk away with 10% of their tips). Tomorrow I want to tell the managers I’d rather stick to hostessing because that’s what I was originally hired to do. Can they fire me because I won’t take on this new position? How can I professionally tell them I refuse to do something I didn’t apply for? I feel like they are trying to force me into it because I’m new and the other hostesses don’t want it!

I’m 19 and looking for a job while I’m on break from college, and i had planned on applying for a waitress position, but I’ve been reading reviews on all the restaurants I was considering and I’ve only heard bad things about working there. Does anyone have any suggestions on any jobs that would be good and pay a descent amount of money, or a restaurant that is pleasant to work at?

Im looking for a summer job and want to get into the restaurant/ bar scene. I have a 2 yr culinary degree, some work experience, im nice to look at and a true foodie! Any suggestions? Just graduated college with a teaching degree (ha, no jobs!)…need to make some $$!!

i’m 15 (16 in august) and i want to get a job so i can start helping out at home. i want to major in sports medicine so if theres a job out there that can help me with the experience then that would be great.
if not then something to do with sports, animals, or the environment would be nice but i’m not picky.
as long as its not mcdonalds or any other fast food restaurant.

I’m a college student, and my only real work experience is 4 years as a dishwasher/bus boy at a restaurant.

I’ve applied at several retail stores (Target, Wal Mart, Best Buy, Sears), but I’ve heard that none of them accept people without retail experience. None of them have called me back yet, and I applied last Thursday.

None of the grocery stores in my area hire people in the summer because they have loads of employees between the ages of 14 and 17 they need to give a fair amount of hours to.

Gas stations and fast food establishments seem like the only option to me, but don’t those both require experience too?

Any advice would be appreciated.
