1. A high school basketball team can spend a maximum of $850 on its sports banquet. If the restaurant they’ve chosen charges a one-time, fixed fee of $85 for set-up, and $18 per person, what is the maximum number of people they can have at the banquet?

2. Steve has scored the following grades on tests in his math class: 85, 72, 91. What must Steven score on his fourth test in order to have an average of at least 85? Assume each test has equal weight.

3. The population in the state of Florida in 2003 was 17.02 million, while the population in 1990 was 12.94 million. If we graphed the relationship between year and population, with year being the x-variable and population being the y-variable, what would the slope of that line be?

4. On January 22, 1943, the temperature T, in degrees Fahrenheit, in Spearfish, SD could be approximated by the following equation: T = -2.15m + 54 where “m” is the number of minutes past 9:00 am that morning.

What was the temperate at:

(a) 9:03 am

(b) 9:12 am

(c) 9:18 am

5. Using the same equation in 4. above, at what time would the temperature have been:
