Open Question: Does wearing red really get a mans attention?

Sunday, January 15th, 2012

I have had a crush on my pal Mike for a while, its his 24th birthday soon and I was hoping maybe to get things started in terms of dating. We have been close and flirted a little, and yes he is single. I wanted to dress up for once I am frumpy, busy college student, we met while working at Starbucks.

So I was told by some of my friends that wearing red gets a guys attention or something. But does it sound desperate, I was going to wear a simple sun dress, its an outdoor party in the evening at a restaurant by the beach. I am not going to have my breast hanging out or some micro mini just a red dress and some sandals or heels

So is this red thing really true about getting a guys attention, or what are some other tips, I please ask no gross or mocking comments. Just some good advice and sharing of similar experience or knowledge, and what would be too much.

Oh and what color jewelry gold or silver?

Open Question: I want to boost my Wi-Fi Reception on my laptop with a USB Antenna. What should I look for?

Saturday, January 7th, 2012

I want to be able to pick up wifi from a Starbucks or the Subway Restaurant across the street from a public park, so I can surf while sitting under the trees and not required to stay inside the establishment.

I was told that it was possible to purchase an “Omni Directional WiFi Antenna” that hooks up to a laptop via a USB Port but I’m not sure what to look for or where I can get a quality one for a reasonable price.

Can anyone help me on this?
Would you use this one?

Open Question: what happen to 1Malaysia ?????……….?

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

A friend sent me this post, please read and pray that our people will come to their senses!

It Happened to Me, It Could Happen to You! by Lau C.Kin on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 8:14pm
The typical Merdeka Eve night started with an urge to watch the fireworks celebration in KLCC ended up in a racist attack by a group of teenagers. So, me and a friend of mine thought of a good solution to avoid the traffic jam in that area by walking from the office in Jalan Imbi through Pavillion, to Jalan Kia Peng through Convention Center to KLCC.

Sounds like an ideal plan as the path is a frequent walkway and is even advertised in Pavillion as ‘Bridge to KLCC’. (Just to note that we didnt go into any dark alley)

At 10.15pm, we started walking towards Pavillion, stopped to get a drink at Starbucks and proceeded ahead. As we walk, we came across people from various races and foreign tourists along the way.

On Jalan Kia Peng, we walked past Novotel Hotel, Hakka Restaurant, Menara HLA and was reaching the junction of Jalan Pinang when a group of about 10 teenage Malay youngsters walking from the opposite direction. They looked like typical youths, giggling and talking to each other.

As we walked past them, suddenly one of them turned around and started to make a flying kick to my friend. Noticing the ‘fun’ he is having, his other friends started to do the same to me. It was so sudden and all I was thinking at the moment was, “What the hell did we do to them?”

Both of us ended up kneeling on the ground for a moment before more kicks and punches came flying in. Even though both of us had our tripod strapped across our shoulder, we were too shocked to react to it. Eventually one punch landed right on my right forehead and I started to bleed profusely. Seeing that they eventually stopped and walked away.WALKED AWAY, damn it. They were not even afraid to run but just WALKED AWAY like winning a game or something. The last thing I remember hearing from one of them was “Baliklah ke negara asal”

Imagine hearing this statement on Merdeka Eve.

I knew I was bleeding but I didnt know how bad. I could feel the right side of my head swollen and wet but I did not try to look at myself through a mirror. My friend also suffered bruises on the body and face. By that time there were more people walking around us but they did not stop to see what was wrong. I don’t blame them, it was a poorly lit area just in front of Menara Pinang. We recovered and continued walking towards the Convention Center. The guards were symphatetic to let us in to use the washroom to clean up. It was then I saw my bloody face.

I did not take a picture of myself then as it is not my intention to send a horror message. This is not a message of sympathy. It’s a account of a random person walking on a street.

Eventually after cleaning up, we walked back to the Police Booth in Pavillion to relate the incident. The response from the officer: “This cannot happen, we have all our men on the streets” (Well, not on the street we got beaten up …)

Apparently informing the police booth stationed in a public area is NOT MAKING A POLICE REPORT. WTF? Apparently we have to go to a Hospital, get some treatment and make a complain/report at the police counter there. I would be dead by then, ain’t I?

Is this how the police maintained that they have improved street crimes? By not noting down petty crimes like gang bang which did not result into hospitalization? Would we be taken seriously if only we landed in the hospital?

What we did was, we went back to the office, rested til this morning, went to a nearby clinic to get some bandages and medic. What else to do? I can’t identify my assailants, and my wounds are not death-threatening.

If I had not wanted to celebrate Independence Day, would I walk or drive to the venue?
If I was not thirsty would I stop for 5 mins to get my drink and missed them completely?
If I had held my tripod as a defensive weapon earlier, would I save myself or get more beating instead?
If I’m not Chinese, would I get the same ‘treatment’?

All I want to say in the end is …

Forward this to your friends (so that they will be careful on the streets)

Forward this to your ‘friendly police’ (so that they know the procedure is wrong)

Forward this to any politician/newspaper (so that he/she can be the champion for highlighting this to the government)

Open Question: for muslims when it comes to what they can and cannot eat, how restrictive is it?

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011

as i am sure a lot of people are aware for jews life can be somewhat restrictive as they cannot mix meat and milk the food has to be correct etc etc.

i was wondering for muslims as the food ideally has to be halal how restrictive is it for them if they are eating out, is it just a case of using their own your own discretion as to what you eat.

i would say life for muslims when it comes to food is much easier as they just need to use their discretion rather than jews who cannot visit anywhere that does not serve kosher food or where non kosher food may be prepared ie starbucks and a lot of restaurants that we all use and can use

Open Question: Places in Denver, Colorado that hire at age 16?

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

I’m turning 16 soon and the first order of business is pretty much going to be looking for a job. I’m not expecting anything great, I would expect the wages to be low, not a very glamorous job for a first job, but I’ll take anything for experience so hopefully I can get a better job later!

My only no no is fast food. Don’t ask, don’t tell me I’m ridiculous, plenty of teenagers don’t work in fast food. This excludes cafes, bakeries, but anything with grease and a lot of fat and oils I can’t do for health reasons.

Anyways, you don’t need to give specific places, maybe some if you know of them, but ideas are good.

I was thinking cafes, like Seattle’s Best, Dazbog, Starbucks, maybe even Caribou.

Maybe floral shops, dry cleaners, ice cream places (but most of them aren’t hiring at the moment).

Any retail stores (not hot topic) that hire at age 16?

Restaurants? I don’t know if I would be the best waitress though. I’m not very strong. Anyone know anything about waitressing?

So yeah just a question. I would like to get a job, I’m thinking of being able to work about 15-20 hours a week during school. Thanks for the help in advance!

Open Question: Soy milk on restaurants?

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

I always have my morning coffee with soy milk at my home but I also like to have a coffee sometimes when I’m out studying for my exams and don’t really have time to get back home to make my own coffee. I’ve been vegetarian for about 6 months and I want to be vegan someday :)
I’m making the changes really slowly, at my own pace. So like I’ve already told you, I’m having soy milk at home, but when I’m on a hurry and need a coffee I’m quite out of options.
I know that Starbucks have soy milk, but do you know about any others restaurants where they have soy milk? It doesn’t have to be a coffee shop, any restaurant should do it. Thanks

Open Question: I have an interview for target, starbucks, and Aerie(American Eagle), which do i pick? help!?

Saturday, September 17th, 2011

Okay I’m a 17 year old girl with 2 years customer service experience as a cashier at a restaurant that was self service(not waiters). recently ive only been getting about 16 hours a week and I’m looking for a second job. I applied for target, starbucks, and Aerie(a seperate store in my mall from american eagle but still owned by AE). i was wondering a couple things..

which store would i be most likely to be able to get more hours and more flexbile hours working for?
what store is more fun to work at?
what store has more benefits and discounts and perks?
what store has a better reputation for how they treat employeeS?
and if youve worked at any of these places please give me your input on what its like because i really cannot make up my mind and if i get hired at all these places i obviously can only pick one because i already have another job and am going back to school in the fall.

Open Question: OMG!!! SO EXCITED!!! I’M FiNALLY GONNA MEET HIM!!! BUT A LITTLE WORRIED AND ANXIOUS NOW…?

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

met a guy on a dating site a while back, a few months ago, he’s no longer on the website anymore, but he still keeps in touch, thru texting.
last week he told me that he was gonna take me out to a winery…i couldn’t meet him last week tho, had busy work schedule. tonite he texted me that he found a great little restaurant here in town and he wants to meet there tomorrow nite.
i can’t do tomorrow nite either due to me working late, so i asked him if we could meet on tues, around 3pm, maybe at a starbucks. to me, restaurant is more of a 2nd date idea, not 1st.
so anyways, he texted back that it sounds great and that he can’t wait!
omg i hope everything goes great! i seriously like this guy.
i just hope he likes me too, and finds me attractive as well.
but what if he doesn’t???
omg im like excited and freaking out at the same time!

we’re both 21 btw.

Open Question: Is it ok to sit at an unbusy restaurant to use to the wifi?

Friday, July 29th, 2011

If I need somewhere to go to do homework on my laptop, can I sit at a UNBUSY restaurant during the middle of the day? I have this question because I would have a waitress and I don’t know if it’s considered rude. I’d be there about three hours but I would order food and leave about a 5 dollar tip. (really cheap food there, my food costs less than that). What is the etiquette? Thank you.
Oh…I want to go there instead of Starbucks or something because I want their crepes for breakfast.
