Open Question: How do I improve my fast food restaurant’s menu to match the big franchises?

Saturday, March 26th, 2011

I rescently bought a small fast food restaurant and business is slow. The food is good but is no match for the near by, big time franchises (KFC, McDonald’s) and their great tasting cheeseburgers and whatever else. P.S I don’t know much about cooking and don’t know any great chefs.

Basically what I want to know is, how would I go about producing a menu worthy of competition in such a competitive industy jam packed full of resourceful multi-national franchises and sucessful small businesses.

Open Question: How to come up with better recipes for my small fast food business to match the big franchises?

I rescently bought a small fast food restaurant and business is slow. The food is good but is no match for the near by, big time franchises (KFC, McDonald’s) and their great tasting cheeseburgers and whatever else. P.S I don’t know much about cooking and don’t personally know any great chefs. I guess I over estimated the store’s profit quality but selling it is not an option. I need to improve the core product, no going around the problem this time!

Open Question: Issuing parking tickets?

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

I work in a smalltown office on a downtown side street. It’s not busy, just has a few small businesses in the section where I am with the 2-hour parking on the street (no meters). I usually street park in the morning because I’m typically in a hurry and there is no convenient parking. When I get my bosses’ lunch at 11:30, I move my car to a city lot w/free parking three blocks down (beside the restaurant), and walk back. Occasionally my boss will be out of the office so I don’t go out to get lunch and forget about my car, get ticketed. But I only work until 1:00 so it’s there 4 hours at most. I used to park on the street for the whole 4 hours, but recently (after a month working there) have gotten ticketed for it. Iknow I shouldn’t do it but it’s so convenient! It’s not like there aren’t a ton of empty spots on that street b/c there’s hardly anything open at all. There are no upstairs apartments that I know of. Anyway, an officer issued the 2 tickets I’ve gotten (they had an officer’s siggy) so my question is do officers seriously keep track of this themselves, or do you think it’s business owners that have gotten used to my car? I just can’t believe there would be cops paid to patrol side street parking. IDK how it would be a meter maid - there are no signals to alert w/street parking so I’m just curious as to who actually does this. I pay the fines to the muni court. I just think it’s funny someone would go to the trouble of reporting a car that’s been there for 3 or 4 hours. I never have trouble when I arrive at 9 and move the car at lunch so that’s what I’ll continue to do.

Also how many tickets before it goes against my license. I’ve had two, and paid them.

Open Question: ANOTHER COLLEGE PAPER??? Why yes indeed it is! Would you please mind helping me?

I’m writing a business proposal for a place I’m interning at, and that is to be reviewed by a professor. It’s basically regarding a free online database for alternative and/or medicine. In order for it to be free, we need to make money off of advertisers. Who would be good businesses to talk to about paying to advertise on our website?
There is a few criteria:
1. They should be small local businesses that generally cater to sustainable living, such as fair trade products, hand-made crafts, family-owned restaurants, and food co-ops.
2. If they are big business ideas, then they should hopefully be somewhat in sync with the basic philosophy of economic equity and sustainability. We want more than anything to help promote small businesses, especially during these economic times, but it wouldn’t hurt to have a few large ones on there too.
We also would like any advertisers to be unconnected with pharmaceutical companies, if possible.

Just respond to this question with ideas, or shoot me an email if you have further questions or wish to share information that you don’t want posted on here.
Sorry, I meant it’s a “free online database for alternative and/or HOLISTIC medicine.”
