Open Question: Im very puzzled….?..Please help?

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

So i turned 16 about a dozen weeks ago, and i previously applied to a private restaurant buissiness. The employer was very pleased with my application, as well as the answers and attitude i provided him at the interview. I felt good about it, but hegave me this paper. It told me that i have to attend an “orientation”. There, i have to bring a social security card thing, and my school id, and birth certificate. So, to cut to the chase, does this sound like im probabaly hired? Yes? No? A percentage or ration of yes to no?
Thanks, but thats a freakin finance and debt/loan site. If my question is that uncomprehensive, then dont bother to answer, neverthemore, post a link that does not even tend to a solution of my problem. I just need some assurance here, not a damn philosophy. Ok?
Thanks Chris, youre the best! Its funny how a small answer can make somebody’s mood go uphill, while messing with somebody’s head by giving them a useless link, can make it go downhill. Thanks, Chris!

Open Question: ANOTHER COLLEGE PAPER??? Why yes indeed it is! Would you please mind helping me?

I’m writing a business proposal for a place I’m interning at, and that is to be reviewed by a professor. It’s basically regarding a free online database for alternative and/or medicine. In order for it to be free, we need to make money off of advertisers. Who would be good businesses to talk to about paying to advertise on our website?
There is a few criteria:
1. They should be small local businesses that generally cater to sustainable living, such as fair trade products, hand-made crafts, family-owned restaurants, and food co-ops.
2. If they are big business ideas, then they should hopefully be somewhat in sync with the basic philosophy of economic equity and sustainability. We want more than anything to help promote small businesses, especially during these economic times, but it wouldn’t hurt to have a few large ones on there too.
We also would like any advertisers to be unconnected with pharmaceutical companies, if possible.

Just respond to this question with ideas, or shoot me an email if you have further questions or wish to share information that you don’t want posted on here.
Sorry, I meant it’s a “free online database for alternative and/or HOLISTIC medicine.”

What Fallacies do the following sentences commit?

1. My folks wouldn’t let me go to the movies last night and they wouldn’t let me stay up to watch TV either. They never want me to have fun.

2. The Swedes are 90% Protestant. Uncle Gustav is a Sweede. Hence, he must be 90% Protestant.

3. Psychological testing established that Mr. Jones’ concern with money was above average and Mrs. Jones’ concern with money was below average. It is a fact, then, that Jones likes money more than his wife. Therefore, their marriage is not likely to last for a man cannot stay married if he prefers money over his wife.

4. John says that he loves me and he must be telling the truth, because a person who says that he loves someone would never lie to the person he loves.

5. The reviewer said that the cooking in this restaurant was especially well done, but he was wrong: I’ve never seen such a rare steak as this one.

6. You shouldn’t accept Mr. Jefferson’s argument that high school English teachers should have fewer students in their classes since they have so many compositions to grade. After all. Mr. Jefferson is a high school English teacher; he stands to benefit.

Open Question: What’s the purpose of free will in a religion that presents only two choices?

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

Just wondering…

A: Our Lord said that we are free to do one of two things.
Q: What are those things?
A: Join or die…
Q: I don’t want to join or die. Now what?
A: You must die.

I’ve been thinking back to my “join or die” philosophy, which is either be loved by one and hated by everyone else, or join no one and be condemned behind your back. Now what this means (to me at least) is that some religions present only two choices for you without a neutral or unbiased third, which are:

1) You must “join” them in their activities, practices, and demeanors intended for the worship of a supreme deity, the respect of your own familiars, and the dehumanization of those who choose option two…

2) …which is to “die” spiritually, morally, or even literally and to submit yourself unwillingly to all that is foul and unpleasant.

Now I find it contradictory that God allows free will while, at the same time, expects you to choose one of two choices in which you have no control in answering or refusing to answer. That’s like asking a vegetarian to either eat meat or get booted from the restaurant.

So my question: What is the purpose of free will in a religion that presents to you only two choices in which you must either side one way or the other without a neutral or unbiased third?

**Remember, don’t take this question too seriously. If you use any “join or die” stuff to answer, then you weren’t taking this question seriously enough as that is not what the question is asking. If you plan to answer, use logic, not negative criticism. (criticism is fine, but vulgarity and spam is not).***
