Open Question: Is this ok for Canadian ID?

Friday, December 9th, 2011

I just turned 19 and i want to try to get into a bar but i’m not sure if this can be used as temporary ID for now because i do not have my G1 yet.

I have a Passport picture of myself with a stamp on the back saying for me to sign it, which i did. And i have my original birth certificate. I keep them both in a see through card holder thing.

Will this work or is it to risky because some bars are picky?

PS.an upper end restaurant didn’t ID me, probably just because adults were there though.

thx:)

Open Question: What’s wrong with my grandmother?

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

My grandmother is 68 years old. She takes sleeping pills sometimes as well as medicine for other minor health problems, although I’m not exactly sure what. Mental illness and depression may run in her family because of unfortunate events that have happened to them but I haven’t heard of anything extremely serious. As for her, she’s had heavy financial problems in the past and my grandfather died a few years ago.

About a couple weeks ago, she began hearing things. She believed that her son (my uncle) had a girlfriend who hid in her house every night. Skip to almost 2 months ago, my mom and my aunt, who didn’t know she had a mental illness at the time, decided it would be a good idea for her to visit us in the US (she lives in Taiwan). She stayed in CA with my aunt for a month, during which I’m 100% positive she showed signs of mental instability, but for some reason, my aunt didn’t say anything to us about it. She then came to New York to stay with my family two weeks ago and has been driving us crazy.

-She hears voices or sees people who are not there.
-She screams at my “aunt” and claims she lives next door to us. (My aunt is the only one of her children who doesn’t send money to her.)
-She wakes my mom up every morning sometime from 3-5AM and occasionally keeps her up for half the night with her yelling.
-She hides her passport and cash in various places thinking we’re going to steal it, forgets that she hid it, and accuses us of stealing her things.
-When she’s not b*tching at my aunt, she’s b*tching about going back to Taiwan. She believes that we buy and cancel her flight many times for no reason. She says she saw evidence of this on the computer, which she doesn’t know how to use.
-Today she refused to leave McDonald’s saying that she had a reason for doing so but didn’t want to tell us. We tried to convince her for 2 hours to leave until my mom asked a policeman to tell her to go out.
-She nags us to death about going out to a restaurant to eat even if the fridge is full and no one is hungry. At the restaurant, she doesn’t eat more than a few bites. Then, in one of her fits, she accuses us of starving her. She also said that my aunt and her family were trying to kill her by starving her to death on purpose.

Sorry that I typed up so much. Thanks so much if you could help.
Oh yeah - sorry I never really asked a real question. I have no knowledge in this topic, so, what do you think she has? Dementia? Schizophrenia?
I keep forgetting to add things in - one of the most frustrating things about dealing with her is that she thinks that whatever you tell her is a lie. If you finally get to convince her, she forgets within the next 30 seconds to 2 minutes and starts the same argument with you again.

Open Question: Disney Premier Passport?

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

I was looking online today because I was interest in purchasing the Premium Annual Pass for Disneyland. I noticed they came out with a new pass called the Disney Premier Passport available for both California and Florida parks. However, I was wondering if the Pass gets you the same benefits as the normal annual passes do? I plan to go to Walt Disney World next year for a few days and since I’m already a Disney California Annual Pass Holder I see it beneficial to buy this new pass if I get the same discounts. I read I get the free parking, but do I also get the percentage off at all the stores and restaurants in both parks in both states? Would I still get a discount at staying in the Disneyland hotel and a discount for staying at the Walt Disney World hotel? Thanks to anyone :)

Open Question: translate this into a spanish II level?

Saturday, February 12th, 2011

I need this translated into a Spanish II level because then my teacher will know that it has been translated because we haven’t learned to say a lot of things yet. Do not use a translater! Very simple Spanish only.

The first day of my trip, I loaded the luggage into my car, checked my bags in, and went to my gate. When it was time to board I got on the plane and I took a nap until we got there. When the plan landed I woke up, grabbed my luggage, and found a taxi. I told the taxi driver to take me to the Haymarket hotel and when I got there I paid him 25 pounds. The first thing I did when I got in the hotel is check in to my room. I showed my passport and was given my room key. A man came to take my bags up for me. When I was checked in, I decided to do a little shopping in Suffolk place.

The second day of my trip I woke up and went to the breakfast bar. I left the hotel and walked through the city to the metro and bought a pass for the rest of the week. I got on the metro and then took a taxi to get to the houses of parliament. I toured the houses of parliament and ate lunch at 2:00 from a hot dog vendor. I came back to the hotel and relaxed for a while. Then I ate at Terra for dinner.

On the third day of my trip, I grabbed a bagel at a nearby shop and got on the nearest metro. After I got off the metro, I caught a taxi and asked the driver to take me to the London Eye. I went on the biggest observation wheel in the world and viewed the city from up high. For lunch, I went to a cafe and enjoyed fish and chips. After that, I got back on the metro and went to my hotel. For dinner, I endulged in the Fat duck restaurant. I came back to the hotel in the evening and crashed.

On the fourth day of my trip, I ate ate the breakfast bar and walked to the metro. I rode the metro until I got to my destination. I caught a taxi and it drove me to Buckingham palace. I toured Buckingham palace and took some photos. I had a sandwich at a cafe and then went back to Suffolk place. I did some more shopping and bought myself a new purse. I had dinner and went back to my hotel.

Open Question: Chances of being allowed to buy alcohol with a temporary driver’s license (Texas)?

Monday, January 17th, 2011

My 21st birthday is Monday and I have reservations a restaurant with friends. So I’m wondering what the chances are that the restaurant will allow me to purchase alcohol. I have a temporary driver’s license (has a picture and all information on it). They took my old license but I plan on bringing my passport in case they are hesitant. I realize it is up to the discretion of the restaurant as to whether they allow me to purchase alcohol, but if anyone has been in a similar situation I would appreciate feedback on my chances of my ID/passport being accepted as proof that I am 21.
