Long story short - I have worked at a restaurant as a host for two years part-time while in high school. My manager had always disliked me, she had her favorites and I wasn’t one. I didn’t mind, as I knew I was a great employee.
Well today, she promised a group of 12 they’d be in within the hour (which was implausible) - so to do that she asked me to skip about 10 different parties for this table that were already over their quote 10 minutes! This would have had them waiting an additional 5/10 minutes! I told her I would not do it, because I didn’t feel comfortable doing that. Her response was “You’ll do it because I’m your boss!” I responded negatively with this and said “I will do whatever I see fit, I’m not lying to customers.”
She’s used the phrase “You’ll do it because I’m your boss” a lot in my two years there. It’s clear she’s a terrible woman. Now I’ve been written up for “Review of termination” meaning I’ll be gone probably within a few days.
I’m pleased, really! How do I go about explaining this whilst looking for new jobs? I’m still in high school but this 2 year job was my only experience. Do I still put on applications that I was employed there? Do I explain? help!
Rumble rumble roar, spammers will be shot on sight.
even though I doubt you’ll heave this warning.

Hello I had a couple of questions! Tomorrow I have a job interview at Wal-Mart as a cashier. They told me to go to the electronics and tell them you were there for an interview so I might be a cashier at the electronics (which would be awesome) I think!
I have 4 years work experience at a restaurant and became a shift leader at age 15. I am 18 years old now and two days ago was hired at a factory folding rugs all day. However, I hate the factory job simply because I have to work 40 hours a week and go to college… which I can not handle! I explained to the lady who called me for the interview at Wal-Mart that I would only be able to work part time and she said that was perfectly okay!
So my questions are like this
1.) Should I even tell them I am working at a factory job? I forgot to include that in my application.
2.) I quit my restaraunt job to get a job at the factory. Should I explain that to them or what?
3.) Is the interview hard? I live in a very small town and the Wal-Mart is pretty small as well. I’m a very friendly guy and can get along with good/bad customers all the same so I’m not worried about that.
Any other info/help would be great! I am just in a predicament here!
Oh ya… if I do get a job at Wal-Mart should I just quit my factory job or put in a two week notice? I really don’t even want to work there anymore and I don’t want to show up on the record either for having that job.

Can i sue my employer for not giving me breaks. I work 5.5 hours with no breaks at a restaurant. My boss is constantly talking about woman’s breast and buttocks i was stretching one time and he touched my stomach, which was awkward and made me feel uncomfortable. In the employment book it says that’s sexual harassment and it also says that if I’m working part time (which i am) that i cant work no more than 30 hrs and no less than 20 hrs a week. All while he’s only giving me 11 hrs a week. Even if i schedule days off for important event for myself i never get them off or there is always some mistake. This company is so unprofessional and i don’t want to be taken advantage of because of someones else greed on wanting to get a bonus. Nobody is given an official break and he talks about woman’s body parts alll the time.
Additional Details
also, if i DO sue them does it go on MY record?
Wow just by reading your responses i could see how you all are driven by negativity. Except for a couple of you..
My question was not How can i sue my employer it was, CAN i meaning: is there a possible case. And if you would like to stand at a host stand 5 1/2 hrs straight with no break then quit your job and apply for a position such as that since it so “easy.” I actually do know about the law and that’s why i asked this question because I KNOW what they’re doing is NOT right.
AND no you didn’t answer my question before… delive_rance you would be a really smart guy if you didn’t have your head up your @$$
that’s where it really counts if you catch my drift, ;] sorry to knock you off…

I’m going to file a Fiancee visa next year but i’m worried about the financial support.Because i’ve been working to a fast food restaurant for 2 years as part time and i only get minimum wage $8 and i know i need to get more than that for me to support my fiancee that’s why i’m plannig to go to school. But my question is if my mom and dad co-sponsor my fiancee are we qualified or not?my dad gets $10+cents per hour FULLTIME,my mom gets $9+cents per hour FULL TIME and there’s 4 of us in the house. Is that enough to co-sponsor my fiancee or i need more than that?]
PLEASE I NEED YOUR HELP because i don’t want to file the petition and get denied because of the financial issue.

I am 20 years old. I have the opportunity to move up in the restaurant I work in. I have turned down this opportunity before because I wanted to go to school full time. I moved out of my apartment, moved back in with my parents, and cut my work days down to 3 a week, and enrolled in some classes.
I am not a very school oriented person. I hated high school and it is kind of hard for me to buckle down and write reports and all that…but even now that I have fewer bills to pay, I am struggling with money. I am tempted to take this job so I can make a lot of money while attending school. Problem is, I’d be working 50 hours. Five 10 hour work days…I want to get my associates degree out of the way and get done with it fast, but I don’t want a ton of debt either.
What confuses me even more is what I want for my future…
I want to marry my boyfriend and start a family. He is going to a technical college right now and wants to transfer the credits to a local university. He works 40 hours a week (no homework, though). I feel like getting a degree (higher than an associates) may be a waste of time because I want to stay at home with my kids when I have them. So the amount of money spent on a degree I may not use doesn’t make a whole lot of sense…
So here is my question, I guess…
Should I take the 50 hour a week job and continue school…whatever amount of it I can tolerate while working and save up money and avoid debt…
Or continue my part time (while struggling with money) and continue full time school…
The first option makes sense to me…If I get my associates degree while working so much, I will have the degree to fall back on in the future (and to move on to a higher degree in the future) and will have money saved up for my future family and home…
But I don’t want to be miserable either…
What should I do!!??
What about 50 hours a week at work and 6 or 9 credit hours? That’d be 2 or 3 classes. Still awful or doable??

Hi, I just got my first job at a fast food restaurant part time, I’m really nervous though. I know the basics on how to place an order but I still get confused when someone wants to add or subtract something on the order (they gave me a CD which gives a very bad explanation on how to do it) on my first few days will they just make me watch? or push me into taking orders right away.

So, after doing some research, I just found out that most colleges in the US like to look at your extra-curriculars and clubs. I am a junior in HS, just moved to a new HS. I have been playing tennis since 3rd grade and in my previous hs, tennis is not provided as an extra-curricular but it is provided in my new hs. So, I will be joining the tennis club for my junior and senior year. For my first to year of hs I was involved in the culinary arts club and volleyball. I am also a member of a local charity since my sophomore year, we visited orphanages once a month. I worked part-time at a local restaurant this summer. Is this good enough to be accepted into a good college in the us? Any tips? btw, I am a student in Indonesia. Thanks!

Me and my wife are separated, I am 25 and she is 24 with a 2 y/o daughter. We aren’t legally separated though. She moved into her father’s house, who is leaving again to go back out of the country. She pays no rent or bills and she has a job as a waitress at a restaurant. I am a pharmacy cashier at Wal-Mart making like a 1.50 over minimum wage, at the moment. I get paid every two weeks. I give her almost half my paycheck every paycheck, I am not court ordered to or have we gone to court. I also have to pay my rent and bills for my apartment and put groceries in the fridge so I can eat (for me and my daughter). I am not even scraping by. I have to have my parents pay my rent at the moment so I can just pay my bills and put food on the table and diapers and such for my daughter. I am wondering what is the legal child support payment in Alabama? We both have our daughter equally. The reason I am asking is because, like today, I got my check gave her $200 of it, paid $100 on my cable bill, bought minimum amount of groceries as I could (which was $80), and now I only have $45 left of my check and I am suppose to survive off of that for two weeks till my next check, which will be the same cycle again but I’ll be even broker because I will have to also pay my utility bill. I’m looking at it as this, I make around $450 a pay check because I am only part time till they can move me full time. So, I give her $200, that leaves me around $250, plus she gets to keep all her paycheck and tip money and not even have to pay bills or rent where she stays and she splits grocery bill at her house with her uncle who is moving in there and she complains that she can’t survive off what I give her and she needs more. I’m like I’M BASICALLY SPLITTING MY CHECK 50/50 WITH YOU! if you can’t survive, how do you expect me to when I have to actually pay bills and such.
So back to the question, what is the child support payment law in Bama? Like I stated, we have not gone to court and I am not court ordered to pay anything because we haven’t gone to court.
To ‘A Canadian’. I work 32 hours a week, I go to school, and I am about to pick up another job at night to scrape by and you saying I don’t live up to what I should be doing .. You are being ignorant right there, seriously.

I’m in high school and the only working experience i have was a part time tutoring job. Times are so tough for my family so I desperately need a job. I have no luck finding jobs at fast food restaurants, and some many other places. I have to stay home with my mom most of the time (car accident she has broken limbs) so an internet job would be awesome. So I wanted to know if anyone knows if I can possibly get a job on odesk.com.
