Open Question: What are service animals trained to do if they half to go to the bathroom?

Open Question: What would you do if you……+BQ?

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

What would you do if you were sitting in a restaurant, movie theater, show, event like a graduation or some other place that you were there to enjoy a wonderful experience, but there was a child or children who were misbehaving and were constantly infringing on your personal experience of the activity. The parents are right there near the children or child, yet do nothing at all to correct the inappropriate behavior, like running up and down the steps, screaming…..or what ever.

I may be wrong, but I think that most have been in this situation at one time or another. Please tell me what you DID do in a real situation. Ignore, react, talk to the parents, the child, the manager, your spouse?

BTW I am a Mother of 2, and MY children wouldn’t even think of acting inappropriately in ANY situation. I am the parent who, like so many of you, others wish that their children acted as mine do.

PLEASE check back soon because I will be posting additional comments and questions based on the answerers given. Thanks so much!

BQ: If you could be anywhere in the world right now….where would it be? (Yes, you can take your family with you.)

I am NOT a parent who has trouble with their children. I am a parent who IS responsible and teaches that they need to be very RESPECTFUL of others.
Since I do this, I EXPECT other parents to respond the same way. Yet i find it hard because of “polical correctness”

Open Question: What is a good country for an American to live/retire in?

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

I simply want to live someplace cheap. I know I can do this in America to a pretty significant extent but I would simply like to live abroad.

I have heard and read stories of Thailand, Philippines, DR, etc. “$300/mo includes a nice furnished apartment, a houskeeper who cooks, etc etc etc.” Sounds great.

Here’s what I’d like:

-Relatively safe. I don’t need it to be like the Midwest burbs in the 50’s, I don’t want to get jacked by gangs of gun-toting kids every time I go out.
-Stable high-speed internet. DSL+ speeds. I don’t mind 10 minutes of downtime a week, but my income depends on me to be on 8+ hours a day. Losing my connection often would cost me a lot. Same goes for power of course.
-Reasonable outings. A couple of restaurants that aren’t completely disgusting would be fine. A movie theater would be great even if the big feature films are a month behind the US. My significant entertainment needs can come from taking vacations to the US or even weekends to the more touristy towns.

What I don’t care about:

-Buying a home. Mansions for $30K? Ok, maybe but not a priority. I’m happy to rent for the rest of my life.
-Citizenship. I can stay an American, go dual or become a legal citizen. It doesn’t matter to me.
-Language. I’ll learn whatever I need to even if it is on a basic conversational level.
-The beach/major tourist area. That would be great but if it means paying the same prices that I would in the burbs of metropolitan areas of California then the point is defeated.

Links, real insight, etc would be amazing. I always pick a best answer. Thanks in advance.

Open Question: What do people do in small towns?

Sunday, March 13th, 2011

I’ve recently moved from a big city to a smaller town. I don’t really know what people do there to meet and have fun. I mean there are restaurants and a movie theater, but it’s kind of lame to go by yourself, especially when everyone else seems to know each other.

I ask the folks from work, but they just sort of say “Well, everyone else gets drunk, goes shooting, or gets pregnant.” Then if I ask them where you meet people, they tell me to go to church.

Not that I mind getting drunk, shooting, or going to church, but some of these activities won’t mix very well, and I was kind of hoping for something to do during the week, that doesn’t cost too much money.

Open Question: Which do you think is better?

Sunday, March 6th, 2011

I work at a movie theater and restaurant combo. Overall, I love my job there, especially since I work in the kitchen. However, one of the very few things I dislike about my job are prepping onion rings. We do our onion rings completely by hand (cut, flour, dip, and bread, etc.). No one in the kitchen likes doing them. One of my kitchen co-workers even once said he’d do all of the other items that needed to be prepped as long as he didn’t have to do onion rings. Lol. Anyway, getting back on topic, I asked that same co-worker why he said that, and he said it’s a waste of time and money. Now that I thought about it, I think he’s right. Our supplies for making our onion rings include the onions, batter mix (plus the water to mix it), flour, and the breading. He pointed out that its a waste of money buying all those supplies when we use them ONLY for the onion rings, when the manager could just buy pre-made onion rings that could just be dropped in the fryer. On top of that, sometimes we don’t put enough breading on our onion rings, and customers complain. With pre-made onion rings, that wouldn’t be a problem. We were thinking about bringing it up with our boss, but before we do, is it a good idea? Is the way we currently prep onion rings a waste compared to our new idea? In other words, wouldn’t it be cheaper and save the boss money for him to get pre-made onion rings rather than get all those other items each and every time? Makes sense to me cause it seems like our idea would be easier and save money, but I just wanted to make sure. Knowledge from either a manager or someone with restaurant cooking experience would be most helpful. Thank you.

Open Question: Why do you think black people are so respected for their manners?

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

Whether it’s at the movie theater (I don’t think I’ve ever heard a black person talk or yell loudly at the screen), or tipping generously at a restaurant, black people have the best manners. Why do you think that is?

Open Question: Can a girl go in the boys restroom?

Friday, January 28th, 2011

Not at school because that is a rule. But say like the movie theaters.
Can a girl go in the mens restroom at a movie theater or restaurant.
Because the girl’s bathroom is messy, like dirty tampons and make-up on the
mirror so I want to go to the boys bathroom because I wouldnt have to deal with that
