I’m planning on heading off and traveling across America, from Mexico to Canada and everywhere in between. Since this is going to be a long trip and will have to pay for expenses (plus for taking care of a big Rottie dog, too). I’ll be meeting up with extended family and friends through some different parts, so that takes care of shelter and food while I’m there. But then there are places where I know no one, and probably have a low supply of money. What kinds of jobs could I get while I’m just passing through town/city? I’ll probably stay in one place from about three days to a few hours, so what jobs could I get? Maybe dish washer at restaurants, or something that can pay well enough to feed me and my dog and gas money. Please, I really need help with this. I’ll be finished with college and be an MD and ND major (medical doctor and natural doctor). Are there any jobs I could do ??

all i see here is mexican flags, people/mexicans that can hardly speak any english or none at all, signs that are in spanish, people playing mexican music, mexican restaurants, etc etc. you can spot a few white and black people here and there, but thats it. when was the southwest given back to Mexico? and why wasn’t i told about this?

In my techincal writing class we have to pitch an idea for a restaurant to a billionare (all pretend).
But my idea was to have whole red snapper that people pick out themselves on a bed of ice (behind glass), and we cook it however they want. (If anyone has been to Mexico and tried the deep fried whole red snapper, you’ll know what I’m talking about).
So far my ideas for decor are to have either the walls or floors as aquariums.
Other dishes I was going to serve would be cerviche, clams, gooey duck, calamari, etc…and I was thinking that we’d have live tanks with crab and lobster for people to see and choose from.

Any other good ideas for the project? Please let me know! Thank you.

Alright, I’m a 19 year old Chicano (Mexican-American, meaning I was born in the U.S with Mexican descendant) living in New York City.

I got a job as busboy in a Café/Restaurant/Bar SoHo, Manhattan. I was training for two days already, and today was my third day training. They’d paid me $7.25/hr while training then deduct it to $4.65/hr plus tips. I was doing good in the past two days of my training but today I got offtrack & was going slow. Then the manager called me up to her office, and said they had to “let me go” because I wasn’t as “fast nor good enough” as they thought I’d be.

So, I didn’t even bothered to ask if I still got paid or not. I just got changed, and left.

Also, they made me fill out all this legal papers like the W2 form, and other stuffs. Should I get paid for the hours I worked, and got fired? Or I don’t get paid at all? (plus, everyone gets paid on Thursdays & I started Wednesday but took Friday off, and I couldn’t paid in Thursday since I just recently started.)

P.S: I want honest & mature answers, nothing childish nor sarcastic (e.g: “you’re Mexican, you don’t need to get paid. you need to go back to Mexico”; “shut the f*¢k up! you got fired for being a lazy Mexican”; etc.), please. Thank You!

Ive seen the the text and heard the conversations. she visits him 3times out of the week takes him food gives him MY dads money because he doesn’t have work and he has a wife and 3kids in mexico. she bought HIM a phone and pays his phone bill so they can talk. all she does is talk and text when my dads not around, she asked me if i had anything to tell her because i was always angry at her and i told her nothing, truth is shes making me grow hate for her and i shouldn’t because shes my mom but i cant help it. the only reason shes with my dad is the other guy is a deadbeat that cant find work, cant support his family, and lives with other 5 guys that can barely find work too. obviously she stays with us because even tho my dad is stingy we buy everything we want, get our nails done, go to restaurants alot. idk wat to do i need help, i dont want to hurt my dad but i just cant help hating my mom!!!!!! PLEASE HELP “/
PS i dont trust other ppl to talk about it. second shes like inlove with him she always says how feelings change after so many years obviously talking about my dad. they have 3 kids together

I just quit my job today at a restaurant and I haven’t been paid hourly wages consistently since I started working there. I want to file a complaint with the labor board to get my money and now the manager is telling everyone to warn me to think about filing a complaint because if there is an investigation, the mexicans who work in the kitchen, who are illegal immigrants, will be deported back to mexico. i feel sorry for them since they are supporting their families and need this job and i dont want them to be deported. what are the chances that this would happen?

i know the tap water can make non-mexican people sick - i can easily avoid drinking it. But if you go to a restaurant and order a salad or something, presumably the lettuce and other veg has been washed in tap water right? And the knives and forks? - can that make you sick too? Is it safe to eat out.
