I currently work at a nice restaurant in Hollywood. Its One of the busiest places in LA. Valet parking lot gets filled with mercedeces , bentleys , bmws , lambos & ferraries. The owner drives a bentley and a brand new bmw 7 series. Our food is not cheap at all about 20$+ a dinner plate. Cheapest thing would be onion rings for 10$. Now sit down , or you might fall. There is about 30 people wait staff and im one of them , who don’t get payed hourly wages . I’m a permanent resident legally authorised to work in the us , but more than half of those who work there are illegal immigrants. Besides the fact that we work only for tips , which we are obligated to share . We can work for 9 hours with no 10 min or lunch break or if we need one its 15 minutes that will get deducted from our share of daily tips. Yesterday i had a table that left more than 15% tip on my service , they put 20$ in my pocket for entertaining them and my manager threatened to fire me if i don’t put that 20$ in a tip pool. I feel robbed , screwed over , abused , humiliated , depressed , angry , stressed. I don’t know how this place is still open , to whom & how much money in bribery is given to have that place running that way. I took that job and agreed to those terms because i didn’t have a choice , i needed to survive but this is to much.
I don’t want for everyone to loose their job i just want to change the structure . I want to get payed hourly , i want 6% of my earnings get deducted from paycheck for taxes , i want half hour payed lunch breaks and i don’t want to share my tips. By not paying our wages and taxes the owner saves more than 1 million dollars a year. This is unbelievable greed that should be punished.
Besides doors are closed to many legal workers who are constantly looking for a job because they are not Israeli , but we have new Israeli workers hired all the time.

What should i do ?

a. Just report them to bbb (or where should i report them)

b. should i sue them for hostile work environment , abuse , and a illegal actions .

c. where to find money for law suit .

I want to make some things clear first:

Yes I have a job.
No I am not racist.

I know a few illegal aliens that have jobs working at this restaurant and I have contacted ICE but nothing is done. I contacted their employer and nothing is done. Since ICE wont do anything, I want to make it publicly known that this restaurant hires illegal immigrants and I want to protest outside of the restaurant with a sign that says they employ illegal aliens. I intend to hurt their business and make them force to fire them or I’ll be out there at all times the are open for business. My question is this: Can I be sued by the restaurant for hurting their business? Also, will I be arrested if I protest on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant? I want to do this but I don’t want to get in any trouble. Plus, I’m packing a 9mm with me legally since I have a permit to carry a concealed firearm just in case some Mexicans try to take me out for exposing them.
I know they are illegal for a fact! I am 150% sure. And I need to have a weapon to protect myself I am not looking for trouble but I am being prepared in case trouble finds me. Ive noticed how people like asians and whites treat mexicans very poorly because of their views of mexcans being illegal immigrants. I just felt so sad when I saw a mexican getting abused by a customer in a restaurant because he was mexican. I mean, he was working very hard and gets abused by a white person. First thing is I want to quit should I put in my two weeks or just leave? This place is a fine dinning restaurant by the way. They have illegal immigrants in the kitchen, they dont pay anyone higher than nine dollars an hour, they sometimes dont give check stubs, and they have rats. They have one table buser who makes about a hundred a night and I get paid 7.00 and hour and the federal minimum wage is 7.25. When he isnt doing his job or isnt there they make me bus tables without a tipout. How could I report them, what would happen if I did, and would it be worth the trouble?

I applied for a wait staff position in a restaurant.
I was called for the job interview, and the employer kind of liked me.
He told me to come to work tomorrow and buy a white dress-shirt and black trousers and a bow-tie.
But after he found out my immigration status, which is a citizen, he said he can’t hire me’cuz he pays below the state minimum wage and doesn’t pay for overtime, and
a citizen might file a complaint to authorities, so he always hires unlawful status people.
I convinced him that nowdays economy is struggling, and I understand that, so you don’t have to
pay me overtime and keep the state minimum wage. As long as I can work, I am happy.
However, he insisted illegal immigrants they never report but citizens and green card holders.
Basically, he turned me down because I am a citizen.
I feel something is wrong. I don’t get hired because I am a citizen?? Is it a discrimination?

After being turned down for numerous jobs because I wasn’t bilingual I’m starting to wonder what country I’m in.

On the flip side, spanish speakers (and other foreign language immigrants) are not motivated to learn english in their new country if they are constantly catered to with spanish language TV, Radio, Ads, Schools, Fast Food restaurants, Plenty of Bilingual jobs, even Government forms are in Spanish. I could go on and on.

If we don’t demand English as the only language, there will only be more cultural segregation, more confidence in illegal immigrants to come here, and poor education systems (already).

I just quit my job today at a restaurant and I haven’t been paid hourly wages consistently since I started working there. I want to file a complaint with the labor board to get my money and now the manager is telling everyone to warn me to think about filing a complaint because if there is an investigation, the mexicans who work in the kitchen, who are illegal immigrants, will be deported back to mexico. i feel sorry for them since they are supporting their families and need this job and i dont want them to be deported. what are the chances that this would happen?

MARICOPA COUNTY, AZ – A raid targeting illegal immigration led to the arrests of 21 Phoenix-area McDonald’s workers Friday, and authorities were still seeking 30 other employees as part of their investigation.
Deputies armed with search warrants raided McDonald’s restaurants in Scottsdale, Tempe and Mesa Friday morning.

The McDonald’s locations include:

•McDonald’s 1516 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale
•McDonald’s 3218 South McClintock, Tempe
•McDonald’s 2130 West Southern, Mesa
•McDonald’s 1460 West Southern, Mesa
Arpaio said information developed by his deputies indicates that over 50 employees working at the businesses may be using falsified or stolen identities for the purposes of gaining employment.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says it will take more time to determine whether any of them are illegal immigrants as officials suspect.

Deputies also searched a mansion in Paradise Valley. The mansion is owned by Richard Coulston, who owns the restaurants. Coulston was not arrested.

McDonald’s Corp. referred comment to Coulston’s company, R&L Management. In a statement, the company says people shouldn’t jump to conclusions without all the facts.”The company has trained its managers and hiring personnel regarding proper hiring procedures,” Pace said. “It does not permit the hiring of employees without completing those procedures … Any individuals unable to meet the legal requirements for establishing authorization to work are not hired.”

Pace said the company was cooperating with the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio said Friday afternoon that McDonald’s employees had been prepped on what to do if they were raided.

Arpaio also said most employees’ records were not kept at the store, but at the Coulston’s lawyer’s office.

Arpaio said deputies were tipped off in November to the McDonald’s they raided by a caller to their illegal immigration hot line, and the tipster alleged several employees bragged about being illegal immigrants.

Deputies used government databases to identify 51 workers who appear to be illegal workers, and were looking for the 30 outstanding suspects.

County officials said if any of the workers turns out to be an illegal immigrant, it could be their fourth civil case under the employer sanctions law, which penalizes employers for knowingly hiring illegal immigrants. The law, which is more than two years old, carries license suspensions and revocations for those who knowingly make illegal hires and is designed to reduce the economic incentive for immigrants to cross the border.
