Open Question: How do I handle someone who has clingy?
Thursday, February 10th, 2011I’ve known her for 6 months. We’ve become close; seeing each other about 2-4 times a week depending on how busy we are…although we do text or call almost everyday. To me, she’s just a female friend; I am interested in someone else, and she’s also seeing someone else. I have alot of female friends; I like to go galleries, restaurants etc with them. Same with her; but she gets jealous if she calls and I am with someone. I notice if we make plans to get breakfast, and I cancel, suggesting lunch instead, she’ll get mad, and say she’s busy…but sure enough, lunch will roll around and she’ll call saying she changed her mind…this has happened several times. If she calls, and I don’t return her call within an hour, there’s a good chance, she’ll send a nasty text. I don’t understand the clinginess. I am almost certain she has no feelings for me; I do genuinely enjoy hanging out with her, and I make time for her…so why is she so clingy? Is she just afraid that our friendship will be short lived? Although we hangout throughout the week, she’ll always ask me if I want to hang out Friday nights…is she just bored? How do I deal with someone who is clingy? Normally I would just ditch her, but I do enjoy her company and don’t want to offend her.
