When I first came to this country 20 years ago, I remember that going to a nice(not fancy) restaurant was exciting not only because of the food but also how I could interact with the waitstaff. 98% of the times, I enjoyed talking to them when they introduced the specials of the evening, chithatted with me about my day, joked about stuff. Most of these people knew what they were doing, they knew about the food they served and they cared about how they served their customers.
Nowadays, you get these Mexican/Latino servers, most of them have NO CLUE what they are doing, you are lucky if you get an eye contact. I once went to a place where I used to love, then they started to have some Mexicans serving, and this one Mexican guy was so clueless, I had to tell him that I needed a menu!

And do me and the rest of average Americans a favor, keep your snobs inside your gated neighborhood. There are a lot of us average Americans who care about the communities and quality of life for average people. Quite honestly, it was the Rich Snobs who heavily contributed to this problem. They are rich, but they are dirt cheap, they couldn’t bear paying their staff a living wage.

Me and my boyfriend recently went to an Italian restaurant where he was served a King prawn linguine rather than the Clam linguine he asked for. Rather than them telling him there were no more clams left, they just decided to give him that anyway. During him eating his food, he noticed that one of the last prawns he ate had a striking black/green line down its back which did not look very nice! We asked to speak to the manager and asked her what she thought of it. She didn’t have a clue and looked embarrassed so took it to the chef to get an answer. When she came back, she had been given another King prawn which had the same long thin line down its back and said that the chef had explained it was just a vein from the vertebrae. This didn’t make much sense as my boyfriend said, prawns have no bones……

Were they just making it up? Is it really a vein or is it just plain prawn poo!!!!????

It’s for Wiener Works, a small restaurant chain around here. I am going to an interview tomorrow at 9:30. I was going to wear neutral but bright make up, neat and tidy hair, but no clue on outfit. I have graphic tee’s but not thinking that’s the best option. I also have a plaid button up. Any ideas?

so i heard that they are closing the espn zone here in chicago illinois due to the “economic crisis” whatever. anyways my dad really wants to go there before it closes. it has been one of his dreams to go there to watch the game and have a few beers. but when it comes to going to restaurants i have no clue how to go to one. and i really would like to take my dad before they close it. so i guess what im trying to say is if anyone has gone there ? what is it like there? how do you get in there or whatever stuff that can help me fullfill my dads dream because he only has a few months to live. thanks much guys

I’m planning a trip to the Algarve with my son at the beginning of September, we’re 38 and 18 years of age.

Things we are hoping for:
A fairly peaceful area to stay.
Within walking distance of beach, shops and restaurants nearby (We like to try fresh, healthy and local dishes)
Commutable distance from Faro airport (no plans to hire car).
Local places of interests, markets, Ports etc
Somewhere that isn’t packed with drunken tourists..but equally somewhere that isn’t totally isolated and dead!

I’d appreciate any suggestions, I have been looking at Alvor but having never visited Portugal do not have a clue! Taxi fares to destination would also be useful!

At my favorite restaurant there are two teenage sisters who work as waitresses. They are originally from another country, so they speak both English and another language. I am fluent in both.

These girls insult practically every patron of this restaurant. Loudly and clearly. However, no one ever has a clue because they use their first language.

Yesterday, after hearing them mock a group of mentally challenged men that the local community center sponsors, I reached my breaking point.

When they passed by, I called them to our table and politely told them that it takes a pretty small person to make fun of someone for something they can’t control. They were extremely surprised and humiliated when I used their first language. They ran back into the kitchens and didn’t emerge while my husband and I finished our meal.

Now, my husband tells me that he was embarrassed by my actions, but I don’t think that I was in the wrong. No one else but the girls could understand me, so their jobs aren’t in danger.

Was my behavior out of line, or was this a valuable lesson for the girls?

I just started working at a tiny restaurant with an old manager of mine from my first job. I got hired because she knew I was a great worker, and is using me to replace the two other girls who dont have a freakin’ clue and they have been working there for maybe a year or so. So my 2nd day running the place by myself, the drawer comes up $16 dollars short. (I know I didnt mess up, I had 5 orders the whole night and only one paid cash, and their change was only .72 cents) So anyways, the only way the drawer could have been shorted is during the day shft from the other girl. The owner didnt believe me and said next time it comes out of my pocket. What the hell!! I told him that we should count the drawer at the end of day shift to see who was short, but he said the receipt paper would get wasted and costs too much money. WTF do I do? I know these girls just wanna get me fired cause they know Im taking their job. Thanks for reading
