Open Question: Anyone know restaurants for a vegan?

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

Okay so my birthday’s coming up. Anyways my situation is that my mom works, but she promised to take myself, my sister, and a few cousins out to eat afterwards. Only my sister is a vegan (which my mom doesn’t know) So are there any restaurants, that we can attend that offer something without containing milk, eggs, or cheese. It’s like going to dinner with a lactose-intolerant woman. So any suggestions? Thanks! =)

Open Question: I might be choking on cheese?

Thursday, July 14th, 2011

I know it weird to come on here and ask something like this.

I had dinner at a restaurant and I had nachos, and at some point I felt some cheese in my throat. So I stopped eating and drank a bunch of water, I think some went down. So when I came home I drank some more water but it was still there. I thought I would eat something so I did and some went down again, but now it still feels like I have a tiny tiny piece left. I can’t figure out how to get it down. I am breathing fine it just feels weird.

Any suggestions how I can try to get it down.

Open Question: What is your favorite kid-friendly chain restaurant?

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

I like Chucky Cheese, but much prefer Going Bonkers if I have a choice. They have more reasonable food prices, more food choices, and more of exercise friendly things for the kids to do. I also appreciate the fact that they have better video games for us “grown-up” kids. What are your favorite places to take the kids?

Open Question: Good meal deals out in the restaurants?

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Anybody know some great cheap things you can get out there? heres a few i know of:

-Papa Murphy’s : The large stuffed pizza, its 15 dollars flat, and you can add as much topping as you want, with no extra charge. I got it, added tons of bacon, extra cheese, sausage, pepperoni, green peppers, and was still 15 dollars. Now the great part of it, is it tastes SOO good, and 1 large stuffed pizza WILL feed your whole family. Our family of 5, all big eaters, can’t finish a whole one.

- Taco Bell: On the 2 dollar menu, deal 4, the beef and cheese burrito. what you do is buy this, it comes with 1 burrito, a bag of doritos, and a medium drink. Then you add in another beef and cheese burrito for 99 cents. So 3 dollars total. These things are huge, when my uncle told me, i could believe him, im like cmon 2 wimpy burritos wont fill me up, boy was i wrong. They filled me up lol. Good deal there, this also fed my whole family for 15 dollars.

So what amazing deals do you know?

Open Question: Rehearsal dinner trouble… help with halibut?

Friday, May 27th, 2011

Planning the rehearsal dinner, and my out-of-state MIL who is paying has asked me to find a restaurant that serves “Halibut in a cheese and wine sauce.”

I have done google search after google search and have not even found a recipe of a dish like this. Any ideas? Is there an actual name for a dish like this? Does anyone know of a restaurant near Boston that serves it? Is halibut seasonal?

I’m totally baffled on this one.

(this is a repeat post, I got no help from the food section so I am trying here!!)
As I said above, I have google searched both restaurants and recipes, to no avail. Even the restaurants I read about that are recommended for halibut don’t have it on their menu right now, which is why I asked if it is seasonal.
This is the only specific request she has made, so I really want to try and make it happen

Open Question: How do i get everyone to stop being awkward around me (PLEASE HELP 10pts)?

Monday, May 9th, 2011

Okay here’s the thing. I get stared at alot. everytime i go out. If that weren’t awkward enough, when try to talk to a guy (for any reason, even if it’s like asking the price of something) they act really awkward around me and take forever to answer and usually start talking about something weird. I went to the store yesterday and asked the guy for information about this one cheese and he just stared at me for a while and started telling me how there’s this great restaurant downtown that has fondue dessert where you can eat strawberries dipped in chocolate. WTF???

Now i’m already a shy person, and when ppl act like this around me i get even shy-er and it makes me feel really self-conscious. I’m sick of it. What can i do to change this?? please help :)

Open Question: So why didn’t my favorite server wait on me?

Friday, April 1st, 2011

I finally worked up the nerve to ask for a particular server when going out to eat. I had gone to this restaurant for the first time a few weeks ago and the waiter they gave me was really good. I even told the manager how great he was. So on my second visit I asked the hostess, “is Brett working tonight”? She said he was, and she’d get him to stop by my table. Brett came to my table and acted happy to see me and said welcome back, and took my order for a drink while I looked at the menu. But then a waitress came by with the drink and said, “Brett took your order for your drink but I’ll be your waitress tonight.” Oh well, so much for that. I guess maybe Brett was already too busy to take on any more tables? He did seem to be running around all over the place that night. [You may be saying, who cares who your server is, they just bring the food? Well, it can make a big difference. For instance, the waitress I had that night screwed up my order and put cheese on something when I specifically said I didn't want cheese on it].

So what do I do then, call ahead to reserve a particular waiter? LOL just kidding.
