Open Question: Is this enough ECs and clubs?

Sunday, November 27th, 2011

So, after doing some research, I just found out that most colleges in the US like to look at your extra-curriculars and clubs. I am a junior in HS, just moved to a new HS. I have been playing tennis since 3rd grade and in my previous hs, tennis is not provided as an extra-curricular but it is provided in my new hs. So, I will be joining the tennis club for my junior and senior year. For my first to year of hs I was involved in the culinary arts club and volleyball. I am also a member of a local charity since my sophomore year, we visited orphanages once a month. I worked part-time at a local restaurant this summer. Is this good enough to be accepted into a good college in the us? Any tips? btw, I am a student in Indonesia. Thanks!

Open Question: does he like me?! please help!!! (10 points best answer!!!!!)?

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

my friend and i organized a charity runathon a few weeks ago, and a lot of people came. only a few stayed the whole time; one of them was a student at the highschool i go to. he stayed there the entire time (4 hrs), just running and helping us out with organizational issues. he never started a real conversation with me/my friends because we were all so busy.

after the runathon, he friended me on facebook, and he chatted me. from that night on we’ve had 2 hour long conversations every night. we have so much in common, and we talk about everything! its almost creepy how similar we are… we like the same music, same politics and same hobbies. hes at a sporting event all weekend, and he wont be able to talk to me over chat, so he got my number. we;ve started texting like crazy as well.

i never see him at school… i didnt even know he existed until the runathon, but i think hes really good looking, and he has a great personality.

i saw him today… he was eating lunch with a friend of mine, and went and ate with them (but was only there for about 5 min.) he turned red when he saw me… and he only made eye contact a few times. i did notice he was looking at me almost the whole time we were eating though…

he asked if he could sign my yearbook, and, of course, i said yes. he said he’ll need a whole page for all our inside jokes. then, we were talking about favorite foods. he found out that i had never tried a particular dish and he said that hes taking me to this restaurant (very informal) after school next week to try it.

i REALLY like him….
so does he like me?? and what should i do to improve this situation?

Open Question: How do I raise money/donations for a Brazilian BJJ charity?

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010

I’m going to Brazil in December and would like to raise $5,000 for a Favella Project.
Ricardo Vieira set up a gym in his local favella where he teaches Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to the community children.
It is a great cause and I would like to help him out with some cash. Especially around Christmas time when they buy food and gifts for the children :)
I’m wondering what the best way to raise some money would be?
I have already been in contact with Melbournes 2 big Brazilian Restaurants.
Who else can I contact?

Thanks for any help!

Open Question: How do people who drive BMW, Mercedes and Lamborghini feel about people in poverty?

Monday, August 9th, 2010

I always wonder about people who spend tons of money on luxury like expensive cars, jewelry, restaurants, etc. How do they deal with the thought of others being worse than you? Do they simply not think about them and concentrate on people even higher in society? Do they pity them and consider them garbage because they are where they are by their choice? Or do they still try to personally help? And not the kind of help where they simply give a small portion of their money to charity.
I personally think most people who are in poverty are scum and garbage, because I myself was kicked out of house the day I turned 18 and was homeless for a while but I never turned to drugs or crime and I worked my way up by myself.
Not all of them are garbage, some of them are just temporarily in poverty, because of many possible reasons, for example losing their job with none of their fault. Or simply because of having poor family.
But anyways, do rich people feel about poor people in a similar way?

Open Question: Does anyone work or have worked for a grocery store or a restaurant that throws away food every night?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

I’m looking for a company for a research paper that either…

1. Throws away perfectly good food at the end of the shift or night.
2. Won’t let employees take home any slightly expired food or day-old paper.
3. Doesn’t donate any food to charity

Please list companies you have worked for or still work for and what they do.

Thanks!
