Open Question: New to NYC-Any Advice?

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

I’m 18 and moving to New York City to attend FIT. I’m sooo nervous about moving to such a huge city. I’m looking for an apartment in either Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens or Manhattan. Particularly SoHo and the Tribeca area. Where are some districts you would recommend to live? Also restaurants and grocery stores etc. Any other advice on living NYC would be great.
Thank you:)

Open Question: Where can I complain about a restaurant being unsanitary?

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

I looked on the department of health website and found nowhere to submit a complaint. I know of a restaurant around me called Cafe Hadar (in Brooklyn, NY- on Ave N and Nostrand) that reuses the bread that is served to people, even if it has been touched or partly eaten. They take the old, possibly “used” bread, and use it the next day to make garlic bread. This is disgusting. Does it violate a Health Dept code? I feel like it should. Where can I file a complaint?
Thanks.

BQ: What are some of your favorite restaurants in Clinton Hill and Fort Greene?

Open Question: restaurant, bar, nite club that is in a good neighborhood, good price, and dont really card unless necessary ?

Friday, June 4th, 2010

Im turning 22 this tuesday. most of my friends are in their spring break, i dont want to do an over the top bash, but i do want to celebrate in a fun environment other than dave and busters. i need it to be somewhere in Manhattan or Brooklyn. i also dont want to end up next to a drug dealers house* so it needs to be located in a semi nice neighborhood. I want it to be like a rest., bar, maybe some dancing too, i dont expect to much because lets face it it is a tuesday. also my wallet was stolen with my id and other junk, and the letter that the DMV gave me that says im waiting for a replacement got misplaced, so the only thing i have now is my medicaid card with a recent pic and my bdate on it. i need a place that wont card at the door. If any suggestions i appreciate the response.

Open Question: I need a small rooftop space/restaurant in NYC for a sweet sixteen?

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

I am having a sweet sixteen and I want a rooftop view of the sunset.
Honestly, i am looking for a space specifically able to accommodate roughly 35 people AT MOST.
Most roof top restaurants/bars i have come across aren’t able to let me rent the space because my guest list is under their room limit.
I’d prefer it to be in Manhattan, but Brooklyn and Queens areas close to the city skyline can/will do

help?

Open Question: What is this governor THINKING? He wants to propose a ban on SALT in restaurants. Is this crazy?

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

Assemblyman Felix Ortiz, D-Brooklyn, has introduced a bill that would prohibit the use of salt in the preparation of food eaten by customers in their restaurants. Patrons would decide how salty they want their meals to be, but not until after the food reaches the table, said Ortiz, whose father died of heart disease.
