I am turning 21 soon and am going out to a nice restaurant for Dinner with the Family and wanted to know some suggestions about what a good first drink would be. I have had alcohol before, but not in the U.S. I have had Margaritas in Mexico and have had Wine, both Red and White in Italy, but nothing in the U.S since I am not legal yet. I am not a heavy drinker, and do not want to get ‘wasted’ on my birthday with the family. I want to try something new and fruity that does not have a bunch of alcohol. I will only be having probably 1 drink, just through dinner. Maybe a Margarita later since I know I can handle that.
Any Suggestions about a low key, fruity drink that will not get me messed up. I want to be able to enjoy my birthday and my 16 year old sister will be with me so I do not want anything majorly loaded.I am not a partier so no shots at all and nothing with an excessive amount of alcohol. Thanks.

Im moving to Clearwater, FL in a few days. Unfortunately, I did not have a transferable job, so I am going to have to find a new job. I was wondering before i get there if anyone has any advice for a good job in the Clearwater area.
I am twenty years old, I graduated high school, started college but have not graduated and am not going this semester. I would like to go to school down here, but i also want a solid job that I can learn and advance in for now and while i attend school. I know with the economy jobs are not easy to come by, but i know certain places i have lived there is always a few good companies to get into that I have ran across, so i was just curious if anyone in the area could help point me in a good direction!
Thank you for your help!!
Shane
P.S :
I was a store manager for a Hobby Shop that sold orders world-wide via the internet (100-200 orders exported per day) for 2 years in which i did a lot of customer service, and worked in a restaurant for 16 months.

ok so im going to be a senior in HS and so far throughout my HS career…I have snow skiied (since i was 7, every friday saturday, sunday during the winter), and thats it for sports. I did a couple HS clubs such as DECA and a mentoring club to younger children. I have mainly focused on my grades, my gpa now is a 3.1. My parents divorced…split all the money up…my dad recently started a REALLY successful restaurant and now he is saying that “he doesnt have the money to ski this year, and that i need to focus on my grades”. ok so….now I do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING…he wont let me hang out with friends anymore…go skiing with friends…i have to sit at home ALL day and study….so what do I do? I want to go hang out with friends…ski 3 days a week…and NOW I CANT! I even offered to pay for ski stuff with my $$ from my job…and I cannot because he put a block on my debit card! what do I do?? I will die of boredom!! WHAT DO I DO??? I KNOW HE HAS THE MONEY…HE MAKES $3,000 PER DAY AT HIS RESTAURANT!! And I want to ski, and go to friends houses…and have fun….before I go to college and study my A$$ off! HELP PLEASE I AM GOING CRAZY!!!

There is a restaurant that I absolutely love that I really want to work at. I’ve worked at one restaurant before and I’ve gone to culinary school. But this is my first time actually searching for a job, on my own without recommendations, and I really don’t know how to ask if there are any open positions.
I know that I need to go to the restaurant and ask for any openings in person and hand them my resume (at downtime, 3-4pm), but this particular restaurant closes down with a steel gate in front of the door like those in mall shops. So I can’t knock on the front door. However, the back door seems to lead directly into the kitchen - would it be rude to knock and ask to speak to someone? And if I do, who do I ask for? It seems to be the only visible door that isn’t totally locked down… but I don’t want to disturb the cooks. I was thinking maybe I should just call the restaurant, but it doesn’t seem like the best way. If it’s just acceptable, I’d like to know.
Any advice helps, especially from those who are in the field and have experience with job-hunting for cooking positions. I really want this job, more than anything, please help!

I am interested in starting Culinary school in January. It seems as though a lot of people think it is a waste of money and that you should just get as much restaurant work experience as possible. Is an Associates degree in Culinary Arts worth the money?

I am 17, 18 in October and would like some advice.
1) How do you like working at Friendly’s/Hoss’s (the environment, customers, pay, etc.)
2) I can only waitress at Friendly’s or Hoss’s because I’m not 18 yet. Do you think I should work at one of these restaurants or wait to turn 18 and work somewhere else?
Would the environment/pay be better if I waited?
Thank you in advance!
